The IRESC images came with no identifying information, no cast list, no storyline, not even a proper title. There seems to have been no contemporary advertising to even help in dating it. Consequently, discovering the identity of one of the models has been one of my more satisfying investigations.
I worked on the hunch that IRESC followed Royale's normal practice of coding sets using the model's initials plus a more descriptive abbreviation - as in FJWR for example, short for 'Fred and John Wrestling'. With the 'SC' in IRESC looking like an abbreviation for Scout, that left I, R and E as possibly the model's initials.
To my delight, I quickly found Ray Huggins under 'R' in my models list. His face is not his greatest asset, but it's unmistakeable. Messrs 'I' and 'E' remain more elusive to date, but tracking down Ray's solo images in the old, beefcake press has given me a clue to when the others may have gone before the camera too. Watch this space!
