13 The Cheat (1959)

Royale's Catalogue Thumbnail

'The Cheat' is a simple story of a soldier caught cheating at cards and punished for it.
The cast is the same trio who featured in 'The Recruit' - Andy, Johnny and Tony
and again it's Andy (in the middle) who gets punished. This picture doesn't really do him justice.

'The Cheat' storyette was included in Royale Studio's Catalogue List 9 (for Oct 1959),
but it first appeared in their magazine advertisements in August 1959 in Man Alive No 6.
The Catalogue description is shown below.

N.B. K/D = Khaki Drill, D/R = Despatch Rider.

The Archive presently has 9 of the advertised 32 images in the set.

Contributions of missing pictures will be welcome!
(and fully credited)

Note: The set is priced in pre-decimal currency, 10/- means ten shillings and no pence = 50 new pence today. 60/- means 60 shillings which was £3 strictly speaking, but it was common to write prices flexibly, particularly those with less tidy equivalents, for example 65/- which should properly be written as £3-5-0 (i.e. three pounds, five shillings and no pence).
