Royale's legacy of images is patchy and full of identification issues and confusion. The storyette featured in this ad is a good example. Immediately identifiable as one of Royale's 'football' series by the vintage hooped socks it's easily mixed up with other sets. This full page advertisement* in 'Trim' magazine, issue No17 in January 1960 gives us a title and a release date for it. It's not included in Royale's catalogue for Jan 1960 - List X although others in the ad above are, so it must have just missed the deadline.

*This full page advertisement tells us a lot about the ambition and scale of Royale's business about 2 years on from their debut. The long list of sets available reflects a lot of hard work
