Tibor Urgay (Updated)

Tibor Urgay by Royale

Tibor Urgay was one of a number of Hungarian nationals on the Royale roster, possibly the first of their models to get the full star treatment. His 'baby face' looks belied an impressively developed, bulky physique, and there's no doubt he was very popular. According to John Barrington's 'Formosus' No1, he worked in a coal mine, maybe, the only coal mines near London were a handful in Kent.

Tibor appeared in several Royale storyettes and sets. There's an impressive number of solo poses surviving (including some attributed to Peter Dobing's studio).

He was confused on occasion with the US model Ray Andersen
Royale also had another model named Tibor, Tibor Noszgay.

Further details of these sets still pending,
but there's a good selection of his images at Collector's Realm.

PT Class, May 1961(?) by Hussar

Tibor joins the PT Class for a gymnastic display
with Brian Lamprill, Fred Collins and David Tompkins.
Possibly a re-issue of a 1958 Royale set

Oddments

Tibor appears in the rare 'back-stage' image of Basil Clavering himself working with 3 of his models on set (ca.1959). You can easily spot him at the far right of the trio. Possibly taken when the Lamprill-Urgay wrestling set (see above) was photographed.
