07 The Toughening (1960?)

This set depicts a rebellious biker ('Rocker') being disciplined by a 'Teddy Boy' type.

It's not recorded in the 1960 Royale Catalogue, so it's formal title and date is unknown.
Two title possibilities are 'Wild One' (advertised in Tomorrow's Man, Dec 1958)
or 'The Toughening' (advertised in Man Alive 8, early 1960)

I have arbitrarily used The Toughening for the Archive title,
it seems to fit the opening image seen above.

I believe the Rocker may be Barry Ruffell and the denim jacketed whip man, George Meszlenyi. I have inserted comparative images to support this identification into the main photo article, George Meszlenyi at picture 7 and Barry Ruffell at picture 8.

Magazine appearances of both these models suggest a date for the set around 1959/60.

There are 24 pictures from the set in the mitchmen Royale Studio Open Archive which might conceivably be the complete set, but there do appear to be continuity gaps. All are of fairly good clarity, but some suffer from scratching. I have offered repaired alternatives in some cases.
They all originated from the 'Originals' collection (Source ref 1)
