Brian Lamprill posing in trunks for Royale Studio (1958) |
Brian Lamprill was one of Royale's most muscular models, a runner up in the Junior Mr Britain contest in 1958, for which he was sponsored by Royale, he went on to win Mr Australia in 1965. Perhaps not the prettiest man in their stable (that prize probably goes to David Reid), he could nevertheless lay claim (in my book) to being the sexiest and the most successful exponent of Royale's style of semi-clothed costume images leaving David Reid's cowboy for example in the dust! These part-clad, solo poses are his main contribution to the Royale legacy along with a sexy naked wrestling set posed with Tibor Urgay. He also posed for other contemporary British and US Studios.
Solo Sets
Early Images for Royale (1959)
Posed in trunks and mostly pouch
with Royale's customary accessories.
German Soldier set (1961?)
but it's certainly a memorable one.
Brian appears in the rare 'back-stage' image of Basil Clavering himself working with 3 of his models on set (ca1959). You can easily spot Brian in the middle of the trio. Possibly taken when the Lamprill-Urgay wrestling set (see above) was being photographed.
Brian Lamprill and another model (not yet identified) in an amusing and sexy confrontation by Hussar studio (ca 1960). I haven't managed to connect it with a Hussar 'playlet' yet but see Brian in Costume for Hussar
